As a renting, home decor loving Mom of 3, I knew I wanted to decorate my son and daughters co-ed bedroom, while ensuring we could still get our security deposit back. Although I’d love to paint or adorn the walls with wallpaper, neither option is ideal for an apartment. Between cost, time, and well… our lease agreement, the choices are few.
I stumbled upon a great alternative on Amazon that was not only under $10 and easy to apply and remove, but also came in a number of styles and colors. Best of all, it wouldn’t damage the walls or compromise our security deposit.
The answer was… wall decals!

Specifically, multi-colored polkadot wall decals.
Like I said, they’re incredibly affordable – a fraction of the cost of wall paper and certainly far less time consuming than painting an entire room.
I used just one sheet (~$10) to decorate this entire wall, and I still have plenty left over.
I purposely kept a simple design choice, however, there are endless options depending on your vision or your children’s interests. Etsy has a million different fun and creative decals to choose from.
Initially, I thought it might not hold up against my 2 and 3 year old, but I haven’t had any issues with them removing them. They’ve held up for over a year now and not a single decal has been taken off by them.
When the time comes for us to move, though, I or my husband will have no issue removing each decal. It’s a win for everyone!
