Since 2021, I started a tradition of spending my New Years Eve creating my vision board for the upcoming year. For some, vision boards and new years resolutions are pointless since you can technically pursue goals at any time of the year. However, I’ve always appreciated the start of a new year and the sense of turning a new chapter. If you feel similarly, read along to discover how you can manifest your goals for the new year through a creative and aesthetic vision board.

Vision boards are a great way to identify and prioritize your goals. As someone with an ongoing, never-ending list of goals I want to achieve in the near and far future, I find it incredibly helpful to narrow it down and focus solely on a handful. This significantly increases the likelihood of success, clarifying the aim.

I keep my annual vision board hung in a frame right next to my bedside and work from home desk. I see it every single day and often observe and reflect on it randomly throughout the day. I’ve found that this daily visualization keeps my goals at the forefront of my mind daily, reminding me constantly of what I’m working toward. It’s been incredibly impactful in boosting motivation and maintaining focus. Additionally, I’m regularly re-inspired to continue to pursue those goals.

Because these boards are visionary, made up almost entirely of images, I highly recommend selectively choosing images for it that appear as your desired outcome. Envision the life you’d like to be living or the person you imagine yourself to be and choose images that reflect that. It’s even more helpful to select POV photos to really capture the essence of embodying that new you.

If you’re going to look at it every day for the next year, it may as well be cute. Toss the poster board and pick up a large enough picture frame. I love these large simple frames that are spacious enough to incorporate all of your photos. Simply framing your vision board makes a huge difference in creating inspiration and motivation.

Preparation for my vision board, personally, starts around the beginning of December. I start thinking about what I want to achieve in the upcoming year and narrow down my goals from there. Once I’ve settled on a handful as well as a few specific intentions, I begin curating my Pinterest board.

All of the photos I use for my vision board are courtesy of Pinterest. It’s a fantastic option for finding the exact vibe, POV, or aesthetic you’re looking for. Here are a few of my boards for previous years:

I don’t necessarily use each photo saved to my Pinterest board. Having a variety of options relating to a particular goal or achievement is helpful for inspiration.

Once I have a decent amount of images saved to my Pinterest board, I print them out at Walgreens. Their same-day pick-up option is convenient and they almost always have an active sale on prints. Be sure to pick up your large picture frame, scissors, and tape/glue.

On NYE, I pour a glass of wine, play some music, and begin curating my vision board. I spend the night envisioning the upcoming year and all of my hopes for what it will entail. I’ve enjoyed it every single year and hold onto all of my vision boards to reflect back on. It’s amazing how much our desires change and also how certain goals are brought to life.

I cannot wait to put together my 2025 vision board. I have several goals I plan on working toward in the upcoming year. It’s my hope that you find motivation and inspiration in your vision board this year and that you meet each of your goals next year.
