One of my favorite parts about being a Mom is the holidays! I absolutely love the holiday season and look forward to creating magical moments for my kids every year that they’ll hopefully reminisce on later in life. Since I was young, I remember always loving this time of year and all of the traditions. When I realized my 1 and 2 year old had never tried hot cocoa before, I knew I had to make a hot chocolate bar for them with all the add-ins and toppings. My immediate thought was, “How can I do this without breaking the bank?”. From there, I hit The Dollar Tree and found everything I needed.
I’m a huge proponent for saving money anywhere you can, especially in this economy and especially as a mother of three. In an attempt to be frugal while still allowing myself and my family to enjoy the little things in life, I frequent our local Dollar Tree. You’d be pleasantly surprised what amazing things you can create using only items purchased for $1.25.

To curate my Dollar Tree Hot Chocolate Bar, I needed hot cocoa, of course, but also various toppings. Thankfully, The Dollar Tree has an impressive candy and food selection that came in handy for this project. I was able to pick up the hot chocolate, mini marshmallows, candy canes, chocolate and caramel syrup, chocolate stirring spoons, and wafers.

In addition to the hot chocolate and toppings, I wanted to pick up jars to hold and display them all. The Dollar Tree carries so many adorable and practical jars and containers so this took little effort. I also grabbed some festive mugs to go along with the theme. You can really make this yours and customize it completely to you and your family’s taste!

My family and I loved the result and enjoyed hot cocoa almost every day in December last year. I can’t wait to create even more memories this holiday season on a budget. Let me know if you replicate this hot cocoa bar in your home this year and what you picked up for your family!
